Introduction

Hello. We are Robert and Candice Fox. We created this blog for people who want to follow us as we thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. If you don't know what the Appalachian Trail is, we will let our favorite online resources tell you most anything you need to know. Just click on the blue stuff.

Catching Up

Ok, we had some technical issues at our last stop in Helen, Ga so we were not able to make a post. With that said, a lot has happened since our last entry. I will just start from where we left off...

We're Still Alive!

The past few days have been a whirlwhind! We pulled an all-nighter right before we left to make sure we packed everything we needed. We made it to our flight one minute before they shut the gate. It seems that we're always pushing the limits.

Two Hobo's on the Run

Well, time ticks closer until we leave. We fly out this coming Friday to Atlanta. We will be getting picked up right at the airport and shuttled straight to the trail head. We were planning on staying in Dahlonega for a couple of nights for the "Spring on Springer Trail Festival". However, we decided to save our money and use it down the trail when we might need it (i.e. blisters, lyme disease, limb amputation). I can tell you the one thing that we won't need it for... tetanus. Yep, just got that pleasant shot 4 hours ago. If it is anything like Rob's experience, he says that it will feel like I played a game of arms with Mike Tyson.

No Turning Back

It's official. We are hiking the Appalachian Trail. Not that this wasn't the case before but now we have ONE-WAY PLANE TICKETS to Atlanta! Yep, no turning back now. We fly out of Flint on Friday, March 16th and take our first step from Amicalola Falls State Park on the 18th. We revised our list of everything we need to get done before we leave and it is somewhat overwhelming. I'm looking at our dry erase board as we speak and we have 15 items (and growing) to check off. That equals out to about one item to cross off each day. Hmmm... perhaps I shouldn't be playing with the blog then. It's unbelievable how a list can be so long when your just going away for 6 months. Actually, no, it's not. We're going to be away for SIX months. Ahhh!
